Frequently Asked Questions

New FAQ page: Learn more about Our Community Matters (OCM)

  • Are you a bunch of heartless Conservatives?

    A. We would certainly like to think that we aren't heartless. But some of us our conservatives ... a little azure, cyan, denim, indigo, periwinkle, navy, sapphire, or ... well, you get the idea. Even where you find yourself in the company of "true blues", we are your neighbours and we are getting together because we care about what is happening in the neighbourhoods where we live and believe that we can work together to make things better.

  • Are you a bunch of leftist Labour revolutionaries?

    A. Some of us may be Labour supporters ... a little crimson, cinnabar, salmon, ruby, scarlet, crimson, or ... well, by know you probably get the idea. Yet even when you find yourself in the company of "deep reds", we are your neighbours and we are getting together because we care about what is happening in the neighbourhoods where we live and believe that we can work together to make things better.

  • I'm worried; is it ok if I don't care much for political parties?

    A. Not a worry. Everything we are trying to do here begins with the principles or mutual respect. Perhaps you can help act as a translator, or moderator, when some of us inevitably fall into a party principle when what what we care about here most isn't red or blue (black, white, yellow or green). Let's all focus on our community matters.

  • How can we love our neighbours yet be against sheltered housing?

    A. Sheltered housing?: Yes. Building on our parks?: No!

It seems that a few people have misunderstood us. We believe that shetered housing is an important part of taking care of our neighbours. However, we do not support taking building on recreation ground.

This is a "when did you stop beating your wife?" type question. This sort of loaded question begins with a fallacy; let's get technical: an statement that is both a logical predicate to the question itself and and incorporated within the question itself. We can certainly try to communicate more constructively with our neighbours.

  • The site here looks a little fancy. How are you funded?

    A. Thanks! We are glad that you like the site. And, we hpe it will only get more informative and more useful!

The site is built and maintained by volunteers. And, it is funded from our "beer" money and -- so far -- from a handful of other neighbours reaching into their pockets and handing over a few quid to help make a difference. Truth is, it is blue tack and poly filla but a lttle lipstick on the pig works wonders.

And, remember, we have already spent our beer money on community organising. So, if you like what we are trying to do: first, please get involved; and, second, few of us would say no to a beer, glass of wine or even a fruit juice for the non drinkers amongst us.

  • I have a question not answered here

    A. No worries. Look around and find the "contact us" menu options. Send us a note. We will do our best to get back to you with a personal reply. And, maybe when you come back to this page in the future you will see your question "asked and answered" right here!

Asking questions is one way you can begin to get involved, so please contact us.
